Welcome to the website of Baldwin Translation Services!  We thank you for wanting to learn more about us and the services we provide.  We are passionate about languages and about assisting people in communicating and overcoming language and cultural barriers.  Our mission: To effectively bridge communication gaps.

We will begin by telling you about the Company.   Baldwin Translations is owned and operated by Joséphine Baldwin, who was born in France to a British mother and a Catalan father.  Joséphine was raised in a trilingual household, where English, French and Catalan were spoken.  Due to Joséphine’s international background, upbringing and education (she has lived in “her three countries”) she has four native languages, these being English, French, Catalan and Spanish.  In addition, she learned Italian, in which she is fluent, and German, as an adult.

Joséphine is a certified California court interpreter in English < > Spanish, a court-registered Interpreter in English < > French, Italian and Catalan (State of California), as well as a certified medical interpreter, State of California.  She attended “Universitat de Barcelona”, where she majored in Art History, and is a member of the American Translator’s Association, the National Association of Judicial Interpreters and Translators, the Association of Independent Judicial Interpreters of California, the International Medical Interpreters Association, and is affiliated to other cultural and environmental organizations.

 

           Joséphine has provided translation, interpretation, proofreading and editing services for over twenty-five years on both sides of the Atlantic, to Attorneys and Law Offices, Physicians, government agencies, language agencies, public and private institutions, multinational corporations, small businesses, hospitals, advertising agencies, private individuals operating in different fields and a major publishing house in Barcelona.

Joséphine firmly believes that continuous education is of paramount importance in our line of work.  Being passionate and knowledgeable about what we do is not enough:  As language experts and cultural brokers, we cannot afford to be left behind when it comes to technological advances, current events, social and cultural trends. We never cease to learn, as continuous education is of the utmost importance to us.
